FAQs

Common questions before you place your order.

Everything you need to know about measuring, fitting, materials, colours and how your made-to-measure Total Blackout blind is produced.

Need to check something first?

Measure your recess carefully and always use the smallest width and height when placing your order.

Do I need to drill into my window or wall?

No. Total Blackout uses a no-drill fitting system designed to sit securely inside the window recess without screws, drilling or permanent damage.

How do I measure for my blind?

Measure the width in three places: top, centre and bottom. Then measure the height in three places: left, centre and right. Use the smallest width and smallest height when placing your order.

Will you make a deduction from my measurements?

Yes. We make a small production deduction so the finished blind can fit neatly inside the recess without rubbing or catching.

What colours are available?

Total Blackout blinds are available in black or white. Both use the same made-to-measure, cordless, no-drill blackout system.

What is the blind made from?

The system uses aluminium and polyester materials with a honeycomb cellular structure designed for blackout performance, thermal comfort and everyday durability.

Can I choose the opening direction?

Yes. Available options include left-to-right, right-to-left and up-and-down opening. Choose the direction that best suits your window and daily use.

Measuring & fitting

Get the fit right first time.

Clear answers to the questions customers commonly ask before ordering.

Why should I use the smallest measurements?

Window recesses are not always perfectly square. Using the smallest width and height helps prevent the blind from catching at a narrower point.

Should I enter the recess size or finished blind size?

Enter the smallest recess width and height you measured. Do not make your own fitting deduction unless the order page specifically asks you to.

What if my window recess is not square?

Use the smallest of your three width measurements and the smallest of your three height measurements to give the blind the best chance of fitting cleanly.

Can I fit the blind outside the recess?

Total Blackout is designed as a secure recess-fit system. Check that your window has a suitable clear recess before ordering.

Do I need special tools or a tradesperson?

No tradesperson is required. The system is designed for quick installation without screws or drilling.

How long does fitting take?

The fitting system is designed to take around five minutes once the recess is ready and you have read the supplied instructions.

Is the blind suitable for rented homes?

Its no-drill design makes it practical for many rented homes because it does not require permanent fixing holes. Check your tenancy requirements where necessary.

Can I remove the blind later?

Yes. The no-drill recess-fit design is intended to avoid permanent damage and is easier to remove than a screw-fixed system.

Product details

Blackout, comfort and everyday use.

Does the blind provide complete blackout?

The system is designed for edge-to-edge blackout and total darkness when correctly measured and fitted in a suitable recess.

Which rooms is it suitable for?

It is well suited to bedrooms, nurseries, home offices, media rooms and other spaces where darkness, privacy and comfort matter.

Does the blind help with room temperature?

Yes. Honeycomb air pockets help retain temperature, supporting a more comfortable room through warmer and colder periods.

Will it reduce outside noise?

The cellular structure provides a degree of sound absorption and can help soften outside noise. It is not a substitute for specialist soundproofing.

Does the blind have cords or hanging chains?

No. Total Blackout uses a cordless design for a cleaner appearance and child-friendly everyday operation.

Does the blind improve privacy?

Yes. When closed, the blackout material prevents views through the covered window and provides strong privacy.

Which colour should I choose?

White creates a bright, discreet finish. Black gives stronger contrast and works especially well with darker interiors, media rooms and black window frames.

Is every blind made to measure?

Yes. Each blind is custom made using the recess measurements, colour and opening direction selected during ordering.
